Special thanks: Fernando Botero, Fernando Zea and Lina Botero
Celebrating the 90 years of Fernando Botero (as of 2023, Rest in Peace), a Colombian artist and international icon. Our challenge was to showcase publicly and for the first time his painting “Mona Lisa a los 3 Años” (1959).
From analysis, research, ideation and support of his friends and family members, we animated frame by frame and photographed the painting piece for stop motion animation, a storyline consisting of 5 sections that tell the story behind this pictoric masterpiece. It’s inspiration from Da Vinci’s “Mona Lisa”, the city of Medellín and it’s Festival of Flowers, the “colombianity” and women empowerment and a memory of her daughter Lina as a child.
We managed pre-production, production and post-production.
